How to Create a CeylonFind Listing People Can Trust
A strong listing answers the buyer's first questions before they need to ask. Use the right category, honest details, accurate location, price and clear photos.

A good marketplace listing is not the one with the most adjectives. It is the one that lets a buyer understand what is being offered, where it is, what it costs and what they need to ask next.
CeylonFind uses your category, structured details, location and photos to build both search results and the public listing page. Taking a few extra minutes before submission makes the ad easier to find, easier to review and more likely to produce useful enquiries.
Start from Post an ad after signing in.
1. Choose the closest category
Do not stop at a broad section if a more precise category exists. "Home & Garden" may describe the general area, but "Kitchen & Dining" tells CeylonFind which detail fields, filters and page layout belong to the item.
Pick the category for what the buyer receives, not the audience you hope to reach. A vehicle offered for rent belongs in rental, not vehicle sales. A villa sold as property is different from the same building offered as a nightly stay.
2. Write a title that identifies the offer
A useful title combines the item or service with its most important distinguishing detail:
- Better: Handcrafted Ceylon Tea Gift Box
- Weak: Amazing product for sale
- Better: Two-bedroom furnished apartment in Rajagiriya
- Weak: House available urgently
Avoid all capitals, repeated punctuation, phone numbers, prices and vague urgency. Price and location have their own fields, where buyers can filter them.
3. Describe facts a buyer cannot see
CeylonFind requires a meaningful description, not a one-line caption. Explain condition, age, size, what is included, availability, access, terms and any defect or limitation that could affect the decision.
For a service, describe coverage area, experience, turnaround and what the quoted price includes. For a stay or experience, explain capacity, meeting point, timing, house rules and exclusions. For a used item, state faults as clearly as features.
Do not put a phone number or email address in the description. Buyers contact you through CeylonFind messaging, which keeps the conversation connected to the listing and avoids publishing personal contact details openly.
Optional Sinhala and Tamil fields are worth using when you can write them accurately. Clear local-language information expands the audience; automated or poor translation can create more confusion than leaving the field blank.
4. Complete the structured details
Category-specific fields power filters and summary information. A buyer looking for a furnished apartment, automatic vehicle, remote-friendly job or wheelchair-accessible business should not have to read every description to discover the basics.
Answer accurately. If a field does not apply, do not choose the nearest impressive option. Structured misinformation is harder for buyers to notice and is more damaging to trust than an ordinary typo.
5. Set the public area and exact map pin
Choose the town or area under which the listing should appear, then place the map pin at the real location. CeylonFind uses the exact point for location-aware search but shows buyers only an approximate area for privacy.
Do not pin a popular landmark simply to appear in more searches. A misleading pin wastes buyer time, creates bad directions and may send people to someone else's property.
6. Make the price understandable
Select the correct currency and price type. Use fixed when the amount is firm, negotiable when genuine discussion is welcome, and free only when no payment is expected.
For services, rentals and stays, make the unit clear in the description: per hour, per day, per person, per night or for the complete job. If the visible figure is a starting price, explain what changes it. Surprise charges destroy trust faster than a slightly higher honest price.
7. Preview before continuing
Use Preview to read the listing as a buyer. Check the title, category, location, price and description together. This is where mismatches become obvious: a good title paired with the wrong town, a fixed price contradicted by the description, or an important condition hidden at the end.
Read once for accuracy and once for unanswered questions. Correcting the listing now is easier than handling the same question in ten separate messages.
8. Add clear, truthful photos
You can add up to 20 photos. The first image becomes the cover, so make it the clearest overall view—not a logo, screenshot, collage or close-up that hides the item.
Use daylight where possible, hold the camera level and clean the lens. Add several angles and include details that prove condition. Photograph defects as deliberately as features. For property and stays, move through spaces in a logical order. For vehicles and electronics, include the areas buyers commonly inspect.
Do not use somebody else's photos, manufacturer images for a used item or heavily edited pictures that change condition or colour. Clear ordinary photographs outperform beautiful misleading ones.
9. Understand review and publication
Every CeylonFind listing is reviewed before it goes live. After you save the details and handle the photo step, the listing enters review and usually goes live within a few hours. Timing can vary when information needs checking.
Once approved, it can appear in search and open as a complete public listing. Significant edits to core facts may require another review. Keep the listing current, respond through CeylonFind and mark it unavailable when the offer ends.
Final checklist
- Closest available category selected
- Specific, factual title
- Condition, terms and limitations disclosed
- Structured fields completed honestly
- Correct area and map pin
- Currency, amount and price type match the description
- Clear cover photo plus useful supporting angles
- No public phone number or email
- Preview checked from a buyer's perspective
Trust is not a badge added after publication. It is the result of a listing whose category, words, map, price and photographs all tell the same honest story.
